 Sub-Genre:  A category that is a subdivision (smaller part) of a larger genre.

Convention: Elements that commonly occur in films. Include things like: Characters, situations, props, themes and events.

  • Narrative structures & narrative devices
  • Themes
  • Camera Language
  • Audio techniques (dialogue, voice over, music & sound effects)

  • Mise-en-scene (costumes, props, locations, lighting – all visual elements)
  • Audience reaction
